MDS Technical Notice
December 19, 2000
At the request of MARC Distribution Services subscribers, CDS will implement a new file naming convention for the services that contain a volume and issue number, e.g., MDS-Books All volume 28, issue 5 and v28.i5.records for the files available via FTP. Beginning January 1, 2001, we will continue to include volume and issue numbering for the files, but all single digit issue numbers will be preceded by a zero. Instead of MDS-Books All volume 28, issue 5,the file will be named volume 28, issue 05; and instead of v28.i5.records for the FTP file, it will be named v28.i05.records. This simple change of including a leading zero in the issue numbering will improve file sorting on our FTP directory. Those subscribers who employ automatic means of retrieving files via the CDS FTP Server should especially note this file name change.
