Collection Southeast Asia Defense and Military Web Archive

About this Collection

This collection brings together the primarily state-operated and national military websites from across the Southeast Asian region. At the top level, there are websites from the various nations’ Department or Ministry of Defense. Next are the websites of the different branches of the military of each country, which in many cases also include the national police force. The collection further includes military training and defense institute websites. It does not include non-governmental strategic affairs institutions or independent think-tanks, even those whose work is focused on the military. In addition to institutions regularly associated with the military, the emphasis of this particular collection of websites is on governmental organizations. For that reason, also included are a selection of state-run or semi-governmental industries associated with the military-industrial complex in Southeast Asia.

These government resources will be useful to policymakers, researchers, and other scholars working on strategic studies. This collection provides a snapshot in time of the military in the region. It complements the historical print collections of official defense-armed forces magazines (e.g., Khāo thahān ʻākāt). In addition, it provides new contemporary publications that are increasingly difficult to acquire in print.
