Event Concerts from the Library of Congress

Throwback Thursday

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Concert Office experimented with a new format, Throwback Thursdays, a project that looked into our fascinating concert archives, streamed past concerts, and paired them with Zoom meetings with artists and experts.

Although some of the content is no longer available, you can still enjoy two great concerts. First, the fantastic 2017 concert of the Los Angeles band La Santa Cecilia singing their songs and some traditional Latin American songs, including El Ultimo Trago by José Alfredo Jiménez. Second, the 2019 concert of jazz pianist Aaron Diehl with his Blues and Spanish Tinge recital. It included a robust program with music from Gershwin, Cervantes, Morton, Waller, and more. Diehl dedicated his concert to Jelly Roll Morton for his contribution to American music.
