  • -  原題:「荊溪後學王升著,同邑後學吳騤校」按是書四庫全書總目失載,明史無升傳,他書亦不著其事蹟,惟直興縣志卷八有傳云:「升字世新,原名革,督學耿天臺牒送歲貢,改名升」。按賀鄰泰序謂舊名世新。少孤,奉母以居。偶從友人飮具奕母有慍色,終身不飮,即遇奕弗視也。為人志節堅貞,安貧好學。初受業於,萬古齋,又學於唐荊川,並遊羅念庵王龍溪之門,上下討論,多所領受。自守繩墨益嚴。總督胡宗憲謀梓荊川左編,延升校讐。時幕府士如雲,獨升以嚴見憚。會有以失律論死者,胡公遣客邵生諭意曰:子為一言,千金可得升曰其人罪當死,死之由法,可以生,生之由總戎何溷王生為?嘉靖四十三年歲貢,司訓京兆,而邵生者復入宰相高拱幕,見升笑曰:猶然老儒耶?相君欲重用子,試往一見,何如?升不聽。久之遷國子學錄。張居正相亦欲。致升門下託升友艾穆要之,曰:「行典制勅;矣!升謝不應。出為成都通判有廉譽。遷鹽課提舉,遂掛冠歸萬曆十七年,知縣陳遴瑋延修縣志。所著有左氏魯史,讀左贅言四書輯略四先生論宗及五倫分疏武經十七書解等書。學者稱為孚齋先生」。是書所辯,重在書法,立說每如其人。余以人既不彰,書亦不傳,因全錄志傳,備參考焉。卷內有「長洲張氏藝經堂藏」,「張紹仁讀書記」等印記。姜寶(序),賀邦泰(序)萬曆十六年(1588),自序 萬曆十五年(1587).
