  • Editorial cartoon shows a scene of a sinister-looking panther, labeled "Wiretapping evils," being released from his cage. Two men crouch on top of the cage. One man, labeled "Legalization proposals," throws a hat, labeled "Official watchdog," at the animal. As he does, he smiles and says to the other man, who is a bit dismayed, "This'll make him a fine, useful animal." A debate was held on NBC on July 8th, in which the pros and cons of wiretapping were discussed.
