Notes
- - Caption label from exhibit Down to Earth: Herblock used sarcasm to present his view that the administration of the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant was more concerned with information leaks than with leaking radiation and public welfare. On March 28, 1979, the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant, near Middletown, Pennsylvania, overheated and the nuclear fuel cores experienced meltdown. Holding tanks with radioactive water overflowed and, with permission from the U.S. Regulatory Commission, the power plant discharged both radioactive water into the Susquehanna River and radioactive gas into the air.
