• Scrap books comprising newspaper clippings and some pamphlets, relating mainly to the anti-slavery movement in the United States, the work of the Aborigines Protection Society in England and English political and social reforms from 1835-1886 compiled by the abolitionist George Thompson and his son-in-law, Frederick W. Chesson. Articles collected by George Thompson on topics including American slavery, treatment of native peoples including Native American Indians, the Abolitionist movement as well as reports of Thompson's lectures and meetings. Also includes some of Thompson's handwritten notes. Newspaper articles written by F.W. Chesson cover various topics including British politics and government, the slave trade and rights of indigenous peoples in the nations of the British Empire.
