That set off a year-long bus boycott and launched the modern Civil Rights Movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., (center, right panel). Bowed in prayer at "The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom," August 28, 1963, Dr. King stands at Lincoln Memorial in Washington with Whitney Young, Jr., Exec.
