Aggie Kenny drew the Dirksen Building hearing, where Stevens faced John McClellan (D-AR), Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy (D-MA), Philip A. Hart (D-MI), Strom Thurmond (R-SC), Chairman James O. Eastland (D-MS), Roman L. Hruska (R-NE), and Hugh Doggett Scott, Jr. (R-PA). The Senate unanimously confirmed his appointment on December 17, 1975. Stevens was generally considered a leader on the court's liberal side, serving until his retirement in 2010. On June 13, 2011, the Law Library of Congress presented Justice Stevens with the Wickersham Award, given for exceptional public service and dedication to the legal profession.

All images can be viewed at a large size when you are in any reading room at the Library of Congress.
