Summary

  • Three drawings for Amazing Fantasy #15 comic book pages 14 through 16 shows old Pedros, the church bell-ringer for a small island community made up of fishermen in the Mediterranean. After the character is introduced as a village favorite, the action of the story shifts to a particular day when villagers notice smoke coming from a nearby volcano and prepare to flee for the mainland. Pedros refuses to leave, and returns to the church. He tolls the bells as all the boats depart and lava envelopes the church. The final panels show a shaft of light pouring down on him and his body rising up toward heaven.

If an image is displaying, you can download it yourself. (Some images display only as thumbnails outside the Library of Congress because of rights considerations, but you have access to larger size images on site.)
