  • -  Полотенца играли важнейшую роль в крестьянском хозяйстве. Они использовались в свадебных и поминальных обрядах, в старину полотенце играло роль своеобразной иконной доски, в быту служили стеновыми полотенцами (украшали стены, зеркала) рушниками, рукошерниками, рукотерами. Для изготовления полотенец использовали белые и серые льняные холсты. Концы их украшали вышивками, тканьем, кружевом. При тканье преобладал линейно-геометрический орнамент, встречался ромб. Из ниток для тканья и вышивки чаще использовались нити красного цвета. В Енисейской губернии полотенца изготовлялись из белого льняного холста.
