  • -  В окрестностях озера Шира в 4-х верстах к югу расположено живописное озеро Иткуль с пресной водой. Южный берег его горист и покрыт лесом. В 10 верстах дальше за Иткулем протекает и впадает в озеро река Карыш, любимое место для прогулок посетителей курорта. "На лошадях ездили за 8 верст (на зеро Иткуль). Поездки обходились недорого: ямщики брали за пару лошадей, впряженных в удобный экипаж, не дороже 2 рублей в день. Дорога прекрасная, много тени, хорошая ключевая вода, ягоды (крыжовник, клубника)".
