Summary

  • Angelique, known as Angel, moves from France to the United States to marry American architect, John Smith. The newlyweds set up housekeeping in Los Angeles, California. She tries her best to be a good housewife but sometimes runs into problems as she learns English and adapts to her new life and culture. In this episode Angel is angry with her dentist because he charges her ten dollars for arriving an hour late for her appointment, which then has to be rescheduled. The next day, the dentist has an emergency and Angel has to wait an hour in the waiting room, so she charges him ten dollars for her wasted time. When Johnny hears about the dispute, he sides with the dentist, telling Angel that, as a housewife, her time is not as valuable as is the time of a professional man like Dr. Mathews. George agrees. Angel and Susie are outraged and both present invoices to their husbands for housework and cooking. In addition, Angel takes Dr. Mathews to small claims court to settle the matter.
