Summary

  • Capt. Billy Stokes, a World War I pilot known as the Flying Ace, returns home a hero and resumes his former job as a railroad detective. His first task is to solve the mystery of a missing payroll agent, Blair Kimball, and a satchel holding $25,000. He thinks the payroll agent has taken the money. He also suspects another pilot, Finley Tucker, of being involved in the crime. Tucker is courting Ruth, the beautiful daughter of the railroad station master, for whom Stokes also has feelings. Tucker kidnaps Ruth and takes off with the money. Stokes follows in his own plane. Tucker's aircraft catches fire but Stokes is nearby, dropping a rope ladder to Ruth, who climbs to safety. Finley dons a parachute and jumps, only to be arrested on the ground. After her ordeal, Stokes comforts Ruth, and makes his feelings about her known.
