About this Item

Title

  • Newspaper clippings from the National Intelligencer, Washington, D.C., June and July, 1859, on naturalization and expatriation, particularly on the rights or lack of rights of naturalized citizens to voluntarily serve in the army of their country of origin

Summary

  • Scrapbook of newspaper clippings. The clippings are pasted to the pages of a book, "Inaugural Addresses. Columbia College. February 1858," but the title of the book is irrelevant. The pages of the book are used as backing for the clippings. The book is in a slipcase with the spine title, "Notebook of Francis Lieber Filled With Newspaper Clipping." The spine title erroneously attributes the scrapbook to Francis Lieber when in fact it belongs to G. Norman Lieber.
