- - To take advantage of the salt flats of the Ojo de Liebre lagoon, the Guerrero Negro salt mine was created in 1957. Today, with its 42,000 open-air hectares, it is the largest salt mine in the world. The mine exports 7 million tons to Japan, USA, Korea, Canada, and other countries. The company is distinguished by its social political efficiency and increasing care for the ecology, being in a place where gray whales and thousands of birds arrive every year. The name black warrior comes from an English whaling ship of that name that was shipwrecked in the 19th century.
