- - The Herstories Archive is an oral history archive of women's life stories from Sri Lanka's civil war. This documentation initiative comprises life histories of people in their own words to present people's histories as an alternative to the dominant/official narratives of the Sri Lankan conflict that inevitably intersect with power and privilege. This archive comprises 285 life histories in verbal and non-verbal forms of hand-written letters, photo-stories that showcase objects of memory, memory timelines, trees of life and video-stories. Showing immense courage, strength and hope, these histories are (mostly) self-narrated accounts of Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim women from across the country that share what they have witnessed and experienced themselves, and the impact of conflict on their lives and the lives of their children.
