About this Item

Title

  • Supporting IB Coursework

Summary

  • When the Library of Congress lowered the age requirement to use most reading rooms from 18 to 16, the Science and Technology Division began an outreach initiative to these young scholars targeting students in the mid-Atlantic region enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, (IB DP) which includes completing a 4,000 word extended research essay as a component of its curriculum. This webinar is the start of a pilot initiative to expand it from an in-person orientation for the Library of Congress to a virtual one, available not only to teachers, librarians and students in the IB program but also to those associated with any upper-level secondary school program requiring substantive research.
