• This publication from the National Industrial Conference Board, Inc., represents one of the era's most thorough attempts to establish minimum living costs for New York City. Whereas previous studies had either analyzed a limited range of families or focused on Manhattan alone, this investigation secured data from retail dealers, real estate brokers, and business executives concerning the entire city and a variety of household types, including families and single men and women in both industrial occupations and office employment.
