Title
- The black stallion
Summary
- While traveling with his father, young Alec becomes fascinated by a mysterious Arabian stallion who is brought on board and stabled in the ship he is sailing on. When it sinks in a storm, only he and the horse survive. They are stranded on a desert island. Alec slowly befriends the horse, calling him the Black. Eventually they are rescued, and return to Alec's home, where his mother reluctantly agrees that the Black can stay in their yard, so he and Alec won't be separated. Alec meets Henry Dailey, a once-successful trainer. Together they begin training the Black to race against the fastest horse in the world.
