Many images are copies of engravings and text from books published probably from the 16th century through 1950, including portraits of scientists (chiefly mathematicians), philosophers, musicians, and other important persons featured in the history of mathematics; illustrations presenting mathematical concepts of the last several hundred years for the History Wall (a timeline documenting the evolution of mathematics from A.D. 1100 to 1950); and for the Image Wall (visual demonstrations of mathematical principles). All images can be viewed at a large size when you are in any reading room at the Library of Congress.
