About this Item
Title
- Photographs documenting an exhibition for the 1964-1965 World's Fair, New York, New York, and designs for a plaza for Time-Life, Inc., New York, New York
Summary
- Photographs created and used to design and document exhibition sponsored by IBM, including buildings, displays, a multi-screen presentation ("Think"), and puppet shows; and probably used to develop short films pertaining to exhibition ("IBM Fair Presentation #1 and #2"). Images show interior and exterior views of the IBM Pavilion set in a garden of steel trees, and an elevated ovoid theater with "people wall" seating for the multi-screen presentation; scientific devices and tools; computer-related displays; two electronic puppet shows; people viewing exhibits; and Charles Eames, Ray Eames, and Eames Office staff (particularly Glen Fleck and Deborah Sussman) at work. Some images show exhibit design materials (diagrams, architectural drawings, maps, signs, animation cels, mock-ups, graphic design layouts, scale models, typeface, numbers, and decorative elements); and preliminary designs and architectural models for a plaza with a sculpture of a winged horse for Time-Life, Inc.
