Notes

  • -  Two handwritten more-or-less chronological spiral-bound notebooks that contain fieldworker Howard "Rusty" Marshall's documentation, primarily consisting of field-produced measured drawings of vernacular buildings and site plans: online digital images 2-104 represent notebook 1, part 1, documentation dated 9 July to 28 July 1977, with occasional inserted pages; images 105-148 represent a series of inserted lists and photocopies, several that repeat pages that appear elsewhere in this file folder; images 149-168, notebook 1, part 2, documentation dated 29 July 1977, with stray added information and a Sunday service program from the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Ocilla GA; images 169-293 represent notebook 2, documentation dated 15 August to 21 August 1977, including blank pages, covers, and loose undated drawings.
  • -  Fieldworkers Rusty Marshall, Tom Adler, and Bill Lightfoot designated many of the properties and sites they documented in their fieldnotes and photograph logs with an alphabetic or numeric identifier (e.g. "A," "FF," "6"), with locations marked on a set of county road maps (available at the American Folklife Center). Metadata updates in 2018-2020 made best-effort determinations of the latitude and longitude for most of these sites, and these site-linked coordinates are provided in the "about" metadata for the project's photographs. This geospatial information can be found by searching for photographs (by multiple fieldworkers) using the site or property name.
