This position serves as the Inventory Management Specialist within the Logistics and Facility Management Section (LOG), Business Operations Division (BOD), National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS), Library Collections and Services Group (LCSG). The incumbent assists in preparing and maintaining the official records of the section related to ordering, shipping, receiving, storage, and inventory control. Supports maintenance of the complete inventory of publications, forms, supplies, playback equipment and accessories stored in the various NLS warehouses including updates to the NLS inventory control system which monitors the availability of stock items for NLS, including materials stored at the Library of Congress off-site facility, and the multistate centers (MSCs); prepares routine inventory reports to identify items needed for stock replenishment, and suggests revisions to the various reporting forms and the Supplies Catalog to keep them current; supports activities related to the semi-annual Book Re-Distribution Program (XESS), including disposal of obsolete and damaged equipment and book materials from network agencies; aids in processing materials for the annual matching braille program; facilitates distribution of replacement copies of hand copied braille titles; maintains the section's master inventory of all collections to include magazine and tactile map collections including the archive collection under guidance of senior staff; and prepares and proofreads routine correspondence, memoranda, and reports related to inventory management and shipping of NLS materials.
