- Letters from Anglin while serving with the Iredell Blues (Company A, 4th North Carolina Infantry Regiment, Confederate Army) to his family written from Fort Caswell, N.C., and from various camps in Virginia concerning regimental casualties during the Battle of Seven Pines (Battle of Fair Oaks, Va., 1862), efforts by Confederate soldiers to avoid infantry duty by volunteering for service in the Confederate Navy, and camp life, diet, morale, troop movements, supplies, disease, and deaths during the Manassas Campaign (2nd Battle of Bull Run, Va., 1862), Peninsular Campaign, 1862, and the Shenandoah Valley Campaign of 1864. Also includes comments on inflation and the contribution of women in Virginia to the war effort.
