  • Journal (21 pages) kept by Bastide during his service as a military engineer and British army officer in America subsequent to the siege of Louisburg, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and consists of entries during a voyage from Spithead Channel, England, to Louisburg, November 9, 1745 to May 8, [1746?]; and a voyage from Louisburg to Newfoundland, July 24-August 21, 1749. Also includes a list dated June 26, 1745, of gun and mortars mounted in the town of Louisburg, the grand battery, and the island battery.
