Concert on Feb. 2 Includes Premiere of New Loewe Song

Press Contact: Elaina Finkelstein, efinkelstein@loc.gov

Tony Award-winning music director Ted Sperling conducts a stellar cast that includes Broadway’s Scarlett Strallen, Bryonha Marie Parham and John Riddle in celebration of the Frederick Loewe Collection at the Library of Congress. Loewe’s legendary Broadway shows include “Brigadoon,” “Camelot” and “My Fair Lady,” and his memorable songs like “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and “If Ever I Would Leave You” have become enduring classics. The Loewe collection has been held by the Library since an initial donation in 1962.

The evening’s repertoire will showcase the composer’s well-known works such as “Almost Like Being in Love” and “On the Street Where You Live,” rarities from the Library’s Loewe Collection that includes early German works and songs cut from musical theater productions, and the premiere of “Look,” a previously unpublished musical sketch for which composer and lyricist Sam Tucker-Smith has written new lyrics. This event is made possible by the Frederick Loewe Foundation.
