On Wednesday, May 10, a special event in the Great Hall will reduce access in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress.  All exhibitions, public spaces and the Library Shop in the Jefferson Building will be closed for the entire day, and no timed-entry passes will be offered to the public.

Researchers may access the Jefferson Building reading rooms as they will be open normal hours of service with regular access. Entry is via the Independence Avenue door to the Madison Building and then via tunnel to the Jefferson Building. The West Basement (Carriage) doors and the Capitol Visitor Center tunnel to the Library will be closed to staff, researchers and the general public.

Also, on Tuesday, May 9,  the same spaces in the Library’s Jefferson Building will close early to visitors at 3 p.m. There is no impact to researchers using the reading rooms in the Jefferson Building.

All building exits will be available for use in the event of an emergency. Normal access to the Great Hall, Main Reading Room, exhibitions and all other affected areas of the Jefferson Building will resume at regular hours on Thursday, May 11.
