  • -  This quilt is an original design.
  • -  Quilt size: 86" x 75"
  • -  Other techniques used include: surface embellishment, "ruched roses and 3-D folded fabric tassels."
  • -  How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "The majority are hand-dyed by myself. I had caught the fabric dyeing bug and was really inspired by a group of yellow/gold mottled fabrics and some greens. Dyed a group of fuschias to complement them and eventually my quilt came together. I also like the drama that black adds to a color scheme."
  • -  Quiltmaker's motivation: "I was inspired by some fabric I had dyed and wanted to use some dimensional techniques I had seen in a book."
  • -  How long have you been making quilts? How did you learn to quilt? "Since 1968 or so with an interim period of other needlework (anything and everything) until approximately 1990 when it became an 'obsession.'"
  • -  What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "This was my second Lands' End contest and I wanted to see if I could place higher this time."
  • -  Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "Has given me inspiration and confidence in my techniques."
