« Back to Instrumentation Analysis Resources

The Dionex ion chromatograph separates mixtures of water-soluble ionic compounds. Both organic and inorganic compounds can be determined quantitatively with sensitivity as low as 1 part per million, and by qualitative detection as low as 50 parts per billion.

Applications:

  • identification of small carbohydrate fragments formed during paper deterioration
  • detection and identification of sub-microgram levels of acetic acid formed in film canisters and document boxes
  • Distinction between closely related metallic compounds, such as Iron (II) versus Iron (III) in deteriorating iron-gall inks
