About Packard Campus Public Programs
The Library of Congress Packard Campus public programs seek to:
- Showcase the film, television, radio and recorded sound collections of the Library of Congress
- Celebrate the extraordinary range of creativity and exuberance inherent in the recorded forms of American culture and entertainment since the late 19th century
- Demonstrate the work of the staff and laboratories devoted to preserving and restoring analog and digital audiovisual materials in the Packard Campus laboratories
About the Packard Campus Theater
This beautiful 205-seat Art Deco-style theater with state-of-the-art film and digital projection, superlative sound and comfortable seating is the site for a wide selection of film and video screenings as well as live performances. There are generally three screenings every week: Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. The theater is closed on some holiday weekends.
All public programs at the Packard Campus are free and seating is on a walk-in basis. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors are required to navigate “airport-like” security to enter the building, and personal belongings will be subject to a thorough search. Food, drink, backpacks, oversized purses and large parcels are not permitted.
Access to the Packard Campus parking lot begins one hour before showtime. Please do not arrive early and queue at the front gate. Entrance into the building begins 45 minutes before the show, and the theater opens for seating 30 minutes before curtain.
For general Packard Campus Theater information, please call the theater information line at (202) 707-9994 during regular business hours.
In case of inclement weather, the theater information line should be checked no more than three hours before showtime to see if the program has been cancelled.
Request ADA accommodations for screenings and performances at the Packard Campus Theater at least five business days in advance at (202) 707-6362 or ADA@loc.gov.
