Notes
- - See HABS VA-1390, Fort Belvoir Historic District, for additional contextual information.
- - Significance: Quarters 137 (Building No. 137) is located within Gerber Village, the 1930s housing development consisting of both single-family and duplex units. Constructed from standardized plans, this village reflects the military's approach to unified architecture and construction. Although the layout of the village incorporates elements from civilian designs, it also illustrates the military hierarchy, commonly incorporated into post planning at that time. A single family, story-and-a-half, frame and brick building with a partial basement, Quarters 137 is an example of a 'Type A' design, a design which is repeated in Gerber Village. The single-family homes were constructed in three separate building campaigns, followed by the construction of the duplexes. Quarters 137 was part of the second phase of construction. The 35 single-family NCO quarters constructed during this phase were completed May 7, 1931.
