Federal Library Technician of the Year
Purpose
To recognize and commend exceptional technical competency and flexibility under changing work conditions during Fiscal Year 2025 by a federal library technician.
Description
The award consists of a plaque and a certificate for the individual. FEDLINK will cover the cost of travel for the recipient and one supervisor to attend the annual FEDLINK Awards Celebration held at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., where the award will be presented.* A separate plaque, which recognizes each year's recipients, will be displayed at the FEDLINK Offices at the Library of Congress.
Eligibility
The recipient must be a federal employee and a practicing paraprofessional/library technician in a federal library or information center; federal staff classified in professional series are not eligible for this award, but may be eligible for nomination as Federal Librarian of the Year. (Note: This is not intended to be a valedictory award. Award recipients from 2022, 2023, and 2024 are not eligible.)

Must be prepared by the nominee or nominator; nominator must be a federal employee.
Selection Criteria statements (covering achievements during Fiscal Year 2025); cite specific examples and any supporting quantifiable data from Fiscal Year 2025 only:
- Demonstrated commitment to service excellence in support of the mission of the library or information center in Fiscal Year 2025. (Include brief statement of the library mission.)
- Demonstrated exceptional technical competency during Fiscal Year 2025 in one of the following: public services, technical services, information technology, or other library/information service areas.
- Demonstrated flexibility during Fiscal Year 2025 (i.e., adapting work methods to changing conditions and dealing effectively with ambiguity.)
Supporting materials are encouraged and may include testimonials, managerial endorsements, newspaper articles, etc., that relate to accomplishments in Fiscal Year 2025. See the nomination form for details.
Submission
All nominations must be emailed no later than Monday, December 22, 2025. Please email nominations to FEDLINK at [email protected]. If a nominator does not receive confirmation of the nomination in one week, please contact FEDLINK at [email protected].
Selection Process
The FEDLINK Awards Working Group will receive and screen applications and submit a list of finalists to the FEDLINK Executive Board. The FEDLINK Executive Board will make the final selection and announce the winners in the Spring of 2026.
