Title
- Verbena trágica
Summary
- On the eve of the Día de la Raza celebration in New York City, Mateo, a boxer, returns home from prison, having been released four months early for good behavior. His mother-in-law and his young brother-in-law, Pepito are thrilled, but his wife, Blanca faints at the sight of him. The doctor tells Mateo that Blanca is several months pregnant; he knows he can't be the father. Blanca has in fact been having a secret affair with Claudio, her sister's fiancé and Mateo's good friend. Mateo confronts his wife, but she refuses to name the father, leading to tragedy as Mateo becomes more obsessed and angry searching for the truth.
