About this Item

Title

  • Brahms & Schubert: Taking the Lied at the Library of Congress

Summary

  • The Library of Congress has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to holograph music manuscripts. This year (2022) our celebration in honor of Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge - founder of Concerts from the Library of Congress - featured a number of art songs composed by Schubert, Brahms and even Mrs. Coolidge herself, performed by Eric Owens and singers from the Curtis Opera Theatre. This webinar explores some of the special manuscripts from the concert, and included a few surprises that weren't part of the original program.
