  • Application Notes: Applications are accepted from September 1 to September 30. In your cover letter, indicate which project or projects, provided on the program page, are of interest, and whether you would can volunteer on-site or virtually. The volunteer internship begins annually the last week in January. See program website above for further information on application process.
  • Compensation: Non-paid
  • Academic Credit: The Library does not provide academic credit, but you may arrange with your school in advance to receive credit.

  • Program Duration: Negotiable. Minimum of 160 hours starting the last week of January.
  • Qualifications: Must be a current undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or have graduated no more than two years ago at the time of the internship.

The Library of Congress Business Section offers an annual spring volunteer internship that allows an individual to work with collections relating to business, economics or labor studies. Projects vary each year, and may be on-site or virtual. A list of available projects are posted on the program website before the application period each year.
